About the role
The Senior Lifestyle Writer is responsible for creating engaging written content that covers various lifestyle topics relevant to our audience, including but not limited to articles on things to do in Singapore, neighbourhood guides, interview features on notable personalities and more.. This role plays a crucial part in shaping the narrative presented to the audience, delivering informative and captivating articles, guides, features, and opinion pieces, while mentoring junior writers and contributing to editorial strategy
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Research, brainstorm, and generate original written content covering diverse aspects of lifestyle topics
Writing: Craft well-written, informative, and engaging articles, reviews, guides, and features that cater to the interests and preferences of the target audience, while adhering to the outlet's style guidelines and editorial standards.
Research: Conduct thorough research to gather information, background, and insights for assigned topics, ensuring accuracy, credibility, and relevance in content creation.
Interviewing: Conduct interviews with interesting local personalities
Collaboration: Collaborate with editors, photographers, videographers, and other team members to develop multimedia content, enhance storytelling, and ensure cohesive editorial direction.
Audience Engagement: Monitor audience feedback, comments, and analytics to gauge the reception of content, identify areas for improvement, and tailor future content to meet audience interests and preferences.
Stay Informed: Keep abreast of developments, trends, and innovations in the food and beverage industry through attending events, reading industry publications, and engaging with relevant communities online and offline.
Ethical Conduct: Uphold journalistic integrity, transparency, and honesty in all aspects of writing and content creation, maintaining high ethical standards in sourcing, attribution, and disclosure.
Skills & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) writing for publications, websites, or digital platforms with a focus on lifestyle topics.
Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling, and well-researched content under tight deadlines.
Research Skills: Strong research skills, with the ability to gather information from diverse sources and distil complex topics into accessible and engaging narratives.
Mentorship Abilities: Experience mentoring junior writers and providing constructive feedback.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with local lifestyle trendsInterpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with editors, colleagues, interview subjects, and industry professionals.
Adaptability: A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Portfolio: Submission of a portfolio of writing samples, showcasing the candidate's ability to produce engaging and informative content on lifestyle topics.
